I could be wrong but I understood this app was coming to be a collaborative app for calendars across groups of people. Currently as it sits, is just a mirrored version of calendars that already exist. Creating a calendar that you can invite people to, as well as remove people from is what I was looking for. Almost like a admin assisted group so that chat and calendar are in sync with everyone in the group. Also allowing the export of said calendar across native calendars would be wonderful since it is already pulling info from native apps, why not let the reverse happen as well.
Hi, thanks so much for your feedback ❤️
You’re totally right, Onin is a collaborative app for calendars across groups of people.
To create a group calendar in Onin, you set up a group chat. You can then create events for that group. These shared events live in all participant’s calendars and you can plan together in your group chat, see updates as they happen, and make changes to the event collaboratively.
Unfortunately, it’s not currently possible to add/remove people from groups once they’re created. We’re building a fix for this which will be released in an update next week. From your feedback, we understand that the journey to create a group calendar isn’t clear enough. We will be releasing an update next week to make this clearer. Finally, the app does not currently support admin permissions as we’re focussed on building a fully collaborative calendar for friends.
We understand your desire to export your Onin calendar to other native calendar apps. Unfortunately, this would break Onin’s end-to-end encryption, making your Onin calendar insecure. We know this is needed, but we want to solve this in a way that doesn’t compromise the security of your plans, chats, and personal details, or the collaborative nature at the core of Onin.
We’d love to arrange a call to ask you a few more questions, and try and understand more deeply how Onin can be useful to you. Please email [email protected] to arrange a time to chat.
